Unlike the store-bought cream my wife was using, I wanted moisturizing ingredients but also ones that would soothe my hands from the bee stings I would get. So, of course, my first instinct, as always, was to look to the hive. One ingredient that stood out to me was propolis. Propolis is the stuff that bees use to “glue” the hive together, but this “glue” has more to it. Propolis is collected from tree resins, leaf buds, and tree sap. The bees then mix the collected resins with wax, honey, and enzymes from their stomachs to turn them into the substance we know as propolis, which even contains about 10% essential oil. Amazingly, more people don't know about this bee miracle. Not only has Propolis been used in ancient times as a healing agent, Aristotle, who is said to have coined the word, took advantage of its antiseptic properties. Now skip to the present; Propolis is being used as a fantastic anti-inflammatory on the skin and can even help exfoliate the skin without harsh acids. So tell them what else they will get in our cream, Johnny… Other great ingredients we have included in this fantastic Unscented Hand Cream are honey and cupuacu butter, which help the skin retain and keep moisture; Beeswax, which locks in moisture while still letting the skin breathe; and Silk protein, which is similar to that of the collagen fibers that naturally increases the elasticity of the skin, prevents wrinkles and tightens skin.
Now with all that goodness included in this cream, we decided that this particular one didn't need any fragrance, so we made it an unscented hand cream.
