According to sources, a combination of honey, baking soda and fresh lemon juice may help to minimize the appearance of some scars.

It is even reported to help lighten the overall tone of one’s complexion, if applied all over to the face or neck area.

“It helps to encourage the growth of collagen to fill the indented acne scars,” writes the site Home Remedies for Life. “This helps a lot in shedding the skin and thus encourages the new skin growth.

“It aids in gentle scrapping of the scar tissue layer by layer and makes it fade away slowly,” the site adds.

They suggest using a combination of equal parts raw honey and baking soda to reduce the appearance of scars.

Lemon juice and other citric substances are also recommended for lightening the appearance of dark spots and scars. So adding a few drops may be beneficial, just be sure not to use too much and irritate your skin, especially if your skin is already sensitive.

“Massage the paste into your skin, cover with a hot washcloth, and wipe clean when the cloth has cooled,” says the site.

2tsp honey, 1/4 tsp of fine sea salt, 1tsp of turmeric. Blend to a thick paste. Apply only to the spot and leave overnight. Wash your face as normal.

“For centuries, it has been used on its own or added to other ingredients to make creams, cleansers and tonics to keep the skin and hair soft and in beautiful condition,” says the Honey Association. “Remember Cleopatra who regularly bathed in asses milk and honey to maintain her youthful appearance? Also, Poppea, wife of the Roman Emperor Nero, used a milk and honey lotion on her face for the same reason.”

“Two teaspoons of honey, 1/4 tsp of fine sea salt, 1tsp of turmeric. Blend to a thick paste. Apply only to the spot and leave overnight. Wash your face as normal,” suggests the Honey Association.

Honey, baking soda, and lemon juice really does work to help remove scars. I’ve been using this method for a while and definitely have seen a difference! Another great trick that works is hydrogen peroxide. Since it’s a natural bleaching agent, it works wonderfully (when used regularly) to fade away scars and dark spots.
