For much of the year I’m out working with beehives in the blazing sun, so it’s fortuitous that I’m also in the business of making natural deodorants! I wanted to find an all-natural alternative to the mainstream pore-clogging antiperspirants on the market. Finding the perfect formula for our Charcoal Lavender Deodorant took me over a year of experimenting with mixtures of essential oils and various substances seeking an all-natural solution to...well...smelling like a beast, frankly.
You’re probably familiar with the extraordinary odor-eliminating capabilities of charcoal. But to make our Charcoal Lavender Deodorant all the more effective, I researched the nature of odors as well as natural odor-eliminating substances, and discovered saccharomyces ferment. Basically derived from the fermentation of sugar, this is one of nature's most incredible odor neutralizers. The next magical odor eliminator in our Charcoal Lavender Deodorant is diatomaceous earth. It’s made from the fossilized remains of aquatic organisms called diatoms, which have thousands of microscopic pores and are used in water treatment filters to remove impurities.
Finally we added beeswax, coconut oil and shea butter to the mix, so it goes on as smooth as silk — not greasy or gritty. Then there’s the natural lavender essential oil, to give this Charcoal Lavender Deodorant a calming and relaxing aroma that lasts all day. At Beesential we will never use any ingredient that we wouldn't want to see on a label ourselves.
